Ugh, I feel like I haven't done anything lately! Of course that's not true, but I still feel that way. Christian always gives me static for saying that, but I can't help it. I have to do something to relax whereas he, like a normal person, can relax to relax. I've been such a couch potato lately so there's not been a lot to show, and even less progress has made on my project. Le sigh! BUT, I did get my Halloween costume done this weekend and it's pretty cute. I'm entering Pattern Review's costume contest though I doubt I'll win, not because it's bad or anything it's just not all that unique. I should have entered my awesome Wonder Woman costume last year. Oh WW, I miss you and your Lasso of Truth! But I digress.
I love my pencil skirts! Quick, classic, easy to make, they are pretty much the only skirt I sew. I finally, finally, made myself a simple black one out of a decent suiting material. I had another black one I made a couple of years ago from a poplin (I think?) that had just been through the ringer. I wash clothes after every wear, so the color was faded and there was quite a bit of singeing from the iron. Fug city!
Sorry for the rumply back, guess I didn't press it as well as I'd thought! :) I've got to upload this pattern onto Burda. I drafted it off another skirt I had long ago and have made some changes since then. I feel like this is the perfect skirt pattern, at least for me, so hopefully someone else will feel the same way. And who can turn down a free, basic pattern?
I now have my BCBG inspiration outfit!!!! Christiana, I still can't thank you enough for suggesting I make this two pieces instead of just one - I literally would never have thought of that on my own. I really needed a new black skirt and this top is so awesome on its own. And Beckster, tons of thanks for this fabric! It is like heaven to wear.
Hope you're all having a wonderful Monday!!! Stay tuned to see an awesome fail this week that I can't wait to show you guys. What was imagined as a lovely cocoon sweater turned into a major mullet disaster. Ugh, it's so f*cking ugly I almost like it.
xoxo,
