So I whipped up this little skirt last night.
Now, that sounds far more impressive than it is. I already had this dress:
Again, from my sister-in-law. As is her style, this was maybe worn once (love it!) and was tea length, so too long for me. I cut off the gathered bodice & used my seam ripper to take off the bottom fabric from the lovely scalloped edge eyelet. It was just sewn on to give the dress a straight hem, which I don't get because the scallops are so adorable. But that's why I sew and don't design - I don't know what the hell I'm talking about!
So I already had fabric and lining with a finished edge - the eyelet didn't need to be hemmed because the scallops had stitching along the edge. All I needed to do was cut a waistband (I used the fabric from the bottom fabric under the scallops) & attach it. I used some stiff organza (I think?) in lieu of interfacing because it's what I had on hand - It works really well, by the way! - and just attached it. I didn't even add a zipper, I just had the hook & eye overlap the fabric by about an inch or two and bang! Skirt done!
I love this eyelet. It's soooooo romantic and girly.
For some reason, I can't get this pic to post right side up, so just use your imaginations. Or turn your monitor upside down, whichever tickels your fancy!
I'm gong to use this free pattern from Burda to make a cowl-neck tank from this soft, lovely grey jersey that I scored for $1/yard.
That means this outfit will be virtually free!! Woo to the HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
xoxo,

Virtually free and virtually instant! I am so jealous! That is adorable.
