OK, so this isn't all that original since I made a dress just like this top a couple of weeks ago, but I am SO GLAD I made this top. The silhouette is so flattering, and it totally allows me to pig out - double win!
All I did was make a shorter version of the dress and voila, great casual top! And boy do I need some. I have no fun, easy clothing... all I have is stuff for work. Add to that my penchant for always (and I mean always) dripping food onto my shirts and I've got nothing easy and casual to wear.
I'm not complaining, mind you, but when I'm running to the store I just want to put someting on and go without looking like I'm going to work. But I also don't want to look like a slob (yes, I am the lady that will not leave the house without at least some makeup). Basically what I'm trying to say is that I'm not rockin' these, but I don't want to wear slacks to the store, either.
This top is great because it's all that AND it only took about 3/4 of a yard, so depending on the knit you use you could make this for just a couple of bucks! Word!!
I love this fabric. It was a whopping $2.98 a yard, so this top came in at just under $2.50 if you don't count the cost of thread & needles. I wear it to death. I must say that this dress pattern has gotten serious mileage, so please give it a whirl if you're looking for something easy and pretty. Remember, I will shirrrrr for pizza, so ship me your stuff if your machine is a pain and won't gather with elastic thread like my Martha does. Pepperoni, jalapenos, and mushrooms please.
Round Table pizza preferred.
xoxoxoxoxoxo,

You've got to be kidding me. Pajamajeans? Never heard about those before. Oh my.
ReplyDeleteI understand the need for lots of tops. I'm such a food spiller on my tops too. It's ridiculous. Especially since I love wearing all kinds of luxurious fabrics, that don't wash really well. My husband jokes sometimes that I should wear a bib when eating chocolate, because I don't spill during dinner, only while eating chocolate. Which wouldn't be such a problem if I didn't eat way too much chocolate all the time. :-)
Anyway, just wanted to say I think your top is really cute!
Oh, I love that top! That is definitely something I'd wear!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks ice! Give it a shot -- it's something you can cut, sew, and wear in 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteKarin, it's so nice to hear that I'm not the only one with eating problems! My stains are mostly from spaghetti sauce since I eat spaghetti at least once a week. I actually eat with my bib apron on when I'm at home, hahaha!
