I watched Julie & Julia last week (adorable movie), and I realized that I feel about sewing the way Julia Child felt about cooking: it's just something I get. I look at things and think about how I can make them for myself (for waaaaay less), for my body, and of course, with love. Awwwwww.
I've already cut two pieces (a tank from some gorgeous blue knit, and a pencil skirt from a textured brown unknown material) and I'm so excited because these pieces will be easy, but they'll also make one fierce little outfit. I'm thinking I'll combine my exploits with Sewing 101 to show you that (1) sewing a fierce looking outfit doesn't have to be expensive and (2) sewing a fierce looking outfit doesn't have to be hard. Double-win!!
Oh, and just to share my ridiculous and generally useless amounts of Microsoft Excel knowledge... I used Excel to figure out the number of days between today and my birthday to make sure I had enough time to get all me sewing done. All you need to do is type the following: ="03/12/10"-"12/25/10" and you will get the number of days between today & Christmas (not my birthday, BTW). Yay!
xoxo,
You are such a geek - Excel factoids - love it! Good luck with your garmentation - that's very committed. I wish I had your skill there - for some reason I have a pathological dislike of making clothes - I like making things from small bits of fabric..!??!
ReplyDeleteWhat that means I can't say. Looking forward to seeing them all as you progress.

Hi there. I just discovered your blog. I like this concept of sewing a certain amount of items, which I absolutely love, by my next birthday. I won't say how birthdays I've had, but my next big day isn't until July 2011. I do need to challenge myself. Let's see what I come up with.
