Pillowcase Skirt

My mom was always a thrifter, and she passed the love down to me.  I love thrift stores.  I especially love the Lutheran thrift store by my house that's cash only and always full of awesomely priced second-hand goods.  I found this lovely pillowcase for a quarter!

I loved the fabric, so I made a cute little skirt with it.

Even Sid liked it.  I just took the pillowcase completely apart, gave it a rolled 1" hem, added an elastic waistband and a couple of pockets in the side seams.  Definitely not warm enough for it yet, even here in Southern California (we're supposed to have some sort of biblical storm next week), but in the summer it'll be so, so fun to wear!

I definitely need to make more casual clothes for myself.  I have absolutely nothing to wear on weekends besides ratty-tatty sweats & stuff.  I'm going to give this sweater a go from Kayte Terry's Complete Embellishing hopefully this weekend.

Should be easy since we'll surely be home bound in the rain.

Well, that or floating away!

  1. So gorgeous both of them! That skirt looks just right, often pillowcase skirts look a bit skimpy in width but yours is nicely gathered. And that cardigan! Looooove the cardigan. Looks like a book to check out :)

  2. You know, I just discovered that I haven't been 'following' you, just subscribing. I really need to shift all my subscriptions to fellow Blogspotters to following, it's much friendlier I think.

Thanks Kyle. L-O-V-E your profile pic, by the way.
